Since it is Summer, I like to keep things as light as possible. When the Sun has decided to shine on me, I don’t want to worry about make-up melting down my face. For my everyday makeup, when I’ve only 5 minutes, these are the products I use on a daily basis. Especially, when my husband is breathing down my neck (Patiently and unknowingly) because we had to be somewhere 10 minutes ago. Phew!
Primer
As we are talking about Summer and makeup melting down my face, no matter how rushed I am, if I’m wearing make-up, I like to put on a primer. With Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer, I don’t need to worry about it pilling on my face with any product I put on later. It’s light, hydrating and yet manages to keep my makeup in place for hours. I like to put on a light layer of this primer (usually one pump is enough). Smashbox has launched their new PHOTO FINISH REVITALIZE 8-IN-1 PRIMER ESSENCE, however I still have the old version and I am going to hold onto it until I have used it up. After I run out, I am looking forward to trying the the new one. After all who doesn’t like plump skin?
Tinted moisturiser
On a daily basis I prefer to use the tinted moisturiser instead of a full on foundation. Once I tried the Laura Mercier – Tinted moisturizer Oil free Natural Skin Perfector SPF 20, I have hung on to it like dear life. This is light enough to not feel heavy or cakey and provides enough coverage for an even tone. Like the Primer, I still have the old packaging, because as you can guess, once I liked it I hoarded backups :). When I’m in a hurry, I just slap it on with my fingers or I take my time and use it with a kabuki brush. I love the natural finish it gives and I’m glad to see the variety of shades it is available in.
Concealer
I have a couple of favourites in the category, however when I am in real hurry, I trust my NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in the shade Macadamia. This is high a coverage matte concealer, however it does not make my under eyes look matte at all. Even if I don’t set it with a powder I am confident that it will stay on for a long time. It has peptides and hyaluronic acid that keeps my under eyes hydrated.
Face Powder
Sometimes I totally skip this step, however when I do put on powder, I like to go for none other than the Mac Mineralize Skin Finish natural. I dust on a light layer of it using a fluffy brush and don’t have to worry about my face looking super matte.
Blush
For everyday makeup I don’t always wear blush, however when I do, I love the natural flush of RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in the shade Spell. This shade looks completely natural on my face tone and the soft and buttery texture of this cream blush is easy to apply with just my fingers. I don’t have to worry about blending it perfectly and still look fresh and put together. On top of the colour it gives my cheeks a natural shine and I don’t have to bother with a separate highlighter, if I just bring up the blush a little higher on my cheek bones. 🙂
Eyes and Brows
For everyday makeup (Even on fancy occasions ‘;)’) I don’t like to be bothered with a heavy eye makeup. For a little colour, I just throw on the RMS lip2cheek. I have hooded eyes and they are naturally oily. Hence this approach doesn’t work too well, unless I apply an eye primer. However on a daily basis I don’t want to bother with all that. So I just like to lightly line my eyes with a Mac Eye Kohl in Teddy. The brown shade is dark enough to give some definition to my eyelids and not stark as black eye liner. After applying a carefree layer close to my eye lashes I smudge it to give it a bit smoky look and that is it for my eyes. After this I just throw on a bit of Benefits consmetics Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel and I am happy with my eyes.
Mascara
I don’t have lashes I can brag about. Even when I did not wear any make up, I still always wore mascara. Unlike other makeup products, I have tried zillions of mascaras from drug store to luxury ones. The one I absolutely love for a daily non-dramatic look is Estee Lauder Little Black Primer. Estee Lauder has a patent on their formula. I can wear it multiple ways – As a primer before mascara, as a top coat after another mascara or on its own. I love this product, because with this I never have to worry about racoon eyes. It stays on, no matter what. When worn on its own it gives a decent definition and colour to my lashes without making them appear over the top.
Lips
Most of the days I just slap on my lip balm or pat the RMS Lip2Cheek. The days when I do feel like wearing lipstick I go to my trusty Bobbi Brown Art Stick in the shade Rose Brown. I can just apply a light layer and smudge it a little and suddenly I have lips! This is the closest shade to my lips and it never disappoints me. It is the right amount of matte without being too dry.
Voila! I am ready for the day! Trust me it takes me no more than 5 minutes. 🙂 If you are curious about some of the outfits I enjoyed with this makeup look, checkout my earlier post about my easy summer outfits.
