Autumn is right around the corner (If not already here) and this is going to be my first one in Europe! Wherever I’ve lived though, Autumn has been my favourite season. I love the beginning of crispness in the air, the whiff of festivities. Back in India, this season is the beginning of festivities. As soon as Navratri (A festival celebrated for 9 days) approaches, the aroma in the atmosphere is different from any throughout the year. While all of this puts a spring in my step, (Even more so now, because I’m thinking about my Autumn wardrobe ;)) and thinking about all this, I’m transported back home in my festive clothes.
On the other side, Autumn is my favourite season for fashion and style. As I’m reminded of traditional Indian festive clothes, I’m excited to build my wardrobe for my first autumn here in the Netherlands. Here’s my Autumn Wishlist –

A trench coat
This is the item I’m most excited about. Specifically, A trench, that’s the right length for my petite figure. Although, In an ideal world, I’d like to have a trench in all the possible shades and styles. However, I’m building my wardrobe from scratch, and would like to start with a traditional style in a camel or beige. Particularly, a trench that I can style with casuals and formals. On a budget, that’s good quality for the price. Even though, I’ve tried a few, since I came here. However could not find something that doesn’t look like I’m wearing my dad’s coat. While I was scouring through net, I came across a few in MANGO that might be a good size options for me. There are a few in ZARA, H&M and Arket also that I liked.

A camel coat
Now this is something that’s been on my wishlist for a hot minute. Firstly, a season when I can justify wearing a “COAT” :). Although, I’ll be building my coat collection here, so I need all the basic colours to start with aka black and brown. However, anytime I close my eyes, I see a camel colour when it comes to a coat. Even though, I’d not officially planned on buying one yet, nevertheless, I’ve never missed any opportunity to browse online and physical stores. Since, I’m building my collection, and am on a budget, here are a few options I’m looking at –

A few thin and chunky knits
What can be more cozy than being wrapped around in a blanket? That’s how I feel when I’m wearing a chunky knitwear. If a T-shirt and Jeans is my uniform in summer, a chunky knit and Jeans is my uniform (imposed by no-one) in the colder weather. However, living in the southern India past few years I didn’t have the need so much and I did away with any kind of knits that I had. You can imagine how much I’m looking forward to getting my hands on a few pairs now. Check out the ones, I’m giving some serious consideration –

A leather jacket
I remember my first leather jacket. It was more of a blazer and I wore it to death. At this time, I’m thinking a biker leather jacket could be a good option even for those chilly summer evenings, even so, I could not find one yet, (that I liked enough). I’m a petite, so looking for a cropped version that’s on the minimal side. Let’s see if I find something before Autumn is over ;). Any recommendations are welcome! Here are the options I’m giving a try –

A pair of leather trousers
Donning a pair of leather trousers will be a big leap for my minimal style. I’ve always secretly loved a good pair of leather pants (Thinking about Ross in FRIENDS). However, couldn’t justify wearing these in the weather we have in the southern India. Well! now is my chance! Provided, I’m able to find something that doesn’t require alteration in length. I’ve been on a witch hunt for a good pair and found a few options in leather and imitation leather. Since, I’m on a budget, I’ll first try how I feel in a faux leather straight trouser and make up my mind to save up for a leather one. Among the options I found, my favourite is the Arket one, when I’m ready for these ;). If you are aware of where I can find something in a cropped style, please do recommend!

Black heeled boots
This is a no brainer! Who doesn’t need multiple pairs of black heeled boots? Now, black boots are not specific for the autumn weather, however I’m looking for a specific style. You guessed it – A minimal style with not more than 3 inches heels and not too many bells and whistles. I’m looking for something that fits a narrow foot and is almond or narrowish square toe. I’ve seen a few pairs I liked however, it’ll be a challenge to find them for my size. I’m hopeful I’ll win this challenge. 🙂 The options I’m looking at are –

A knit dress
Lastly, I think a good addition will be a good wool / wool blend knit dress. I own a couple of these in cotton that I loved wearing in Spring and Summer. In Autumn though, a wool or a wool blend dress will add one more variety to my closet. Depending on the temperature, just adding a trench or a wool coat with ankle boots will keep it stylish and comfortable. H&M has some really good options in various styles. These are a few options I liked so far –
