By now everyone knows that Veja became a trend once Meghan Markel appeared in them. I first spotted Veja sneakers strolling through the shoe sale section in the De bijenkorf store in the Netherlands. The clean look and style pulled me towards it. I tried a pair on and loved the look of it on my feet. Alas! They were sold out in my size. So I went on to the Veja website and ordered a pair for myself. These are one of the best sneakers I have put on so far. I have the Veja Campo style in Chrome free leather.
What I like about the Veja sneakers?
Look – I like the minimal aesthetic with slightly thicker sole. The textured leather is harder wearing than a smooth one. I have two pairs – A white black (My most worn pair) and a Neutral in nububk. Of course, I love the look of both!
Fit and comfort – The fit is snug and hugs my feet enough to give me support. These are tight enough to not slip out of my feet and loose enough that I feel comfortable. Some say it takes a few wears to break them in. However I didn’t have to worry about it probably because I have narrow and petite feet. Something to keep in mind if you have wider feet.
Styling options – Veja sneakers are certainly versatile! I have styled these with Jeans, shorts, dresses, skirts and trousers. They seem to go with everything. You can wear these with or without socks and they still look great.
Sustainability – Veja is a sustainable brand. They use ethically sourced material (Organic cotton, Amazonian leather) for their products. If you care about sustainable choices in what you purchase than these could be a good option for your collection.
What I dislike about the Veja sneakers ?
Honestly there isn’t much that I dislike about these. I am excited to wear these every day. I have worn these for almost six months now and haven’t found anything to complain about. You can see how I enjoyed these particularly in the summers in my Summer outfits post. Bear in mind, it takes me a while to find footwear that fits me and is comfortable for a long time wear. I can’t recommend these enough.
Care and protection
The only thing I can say is if it’s rainy or muddy you need to be careful and take good care of the leather. I use the water resistant spray from Collonil. You can easily find this and many similar protective sprays on Amazon or regular shoe stores.
Customer service
This is one of my best experiences. I was looking for size EU35 which is not easily available in stores physical or online. So I decided to order these directly from the Veja website. For some reason, I received a pair that was neither in my size nor the style I ordered. I blamed my luck and thought nothing can be done about it. In any case, I thought to reach out to customer service and see if anything was possible. For two days I did not hear anything and I thought I won’t be a proud owner of Veja sneakers. (Trust me the story ends well). To my pleasant surprise, I heard back from them on the third day and the representative took complete accountability to rectify their error and I received an exchange of the pair I had originally ordered within 2 days.
So the final word from me? A resounding YES if you are planning to buy these. You won’t regret it!
