Hello everyone, first of all, I know I’ve been MIA for a few weeks now and I apologise. It’s been extra busy schedule at work that also took a toll at my health and we moved to a new house this month. Well to be honest it’s been a challenge to keep writing every week with a full time job and other things happening. As now things are starting to feel a bit more settled and I can think about going to previous schedule. The stress of not keeping up with your plan can have a negative effect on your mental health. I thought to share a few favourites that are keeping me sane and uplifted. Hope these help you too to uplift your mood.
Spring cleaning and organising
I’d been expecting it to be a big spring clean event owing to the upcoming house move. We’ve been in the Netherlands for over a year now and have seen all the seasons at least once. This gave us some idea about what stuff we need to keep out and what should potentially be forever packed. 🙂 A clutter free space helps you avoid stress and improve focus. I took this opportunity to stock all the stuff we had and decided what to keep and what to give away. For things we absolutely needed but were not season appropriate, we packed away and labelled. Stuff that was in good condition but wasn’t useful for us, we sold or donated. It was good to see and move only to necessary items to move to the new house.
Since this is a new house I’m not even close to organising everything. Everyday we’re chipping away bit by bit. The trick is to designate everything a home and continue to build the habit to keeping things in their place. My target is to finish bare minimum organising by June end and then take a stock of the big purchase items and redesigning we need to make the place feel like home.
Taking it slow
Did I tell you it’s been a hectic few weeks? I was travelling for almost 3 hours one way every day for 2 weeks at a stretch. The moment I took a break, my health started acting up. This was my body’s way of telling me now you gotta take a PROPER break! Guess what? I had to. One thing or another for at least 2 weeks kept me down. I still had to continue to work. But after the move I made it a point to take it a bit slow. Hence, I decided to give even the blog a break. 🙂 Luckily we got a couple of long weekends and I maintained an easy schedule over the weekends. I slept in, enjoyed lazy afternoons in my new yard and focused on relishing the beautiful weather. 🙂 It’s positively given me a fresh burst of energy. 🙂
Spending time in nature
Its Spring time! The time of cold harsh winter is over for now at least. Even though I love winters. 🙂 You can my posts about winters. In Spring though, the Sun is up for longer hours and it’s a pleasant breeze most days. I’m trying to thoroughly enjoy the beautiful and peaceful landscape, birds chirping and everything. As it is getting warmer every day I love to have a tea time outdoors. 😉 My idea of a relaxed day is when I have a book in my hand a cup of tea and I am sitting under a tree. 🙂
Exercising outdoors
I’ve always enjoyed walks and as it’s not so cold all the time now, I don’t have to cover as much when I go for my walks. When you continuously look at greenery there’s bond you feel with the universe. I’ve even love to do yoga and meditation outside. It feels different in fresh air. I know we don’t always have the luxury to have quiet green spaces outside when we live in a big city. Even then I used to try and steal those days when you can go to a park or a garden and have some time connected with nature. Walk on the grass and smell the fresh air surrounded by flowers and leaves.
These are a few of my favourites to bring me out from a depressing hole. Even imagining these activities makes a huge difference when I am feeling a bit low. Hope this helps you. I’m also curious to know what are other ways you try to boost your soul.
