It’s been a few weeks of bright sunny days and warm feeling. Longer days, walks in the park, and wild flowers. It’s been wonderful to be out for walks, runs (not many :)) and drives. Anywhere I go I see so many people clad in colourful attire. Restaurants with their extended outdoor seating. Conversation’s flowing with sips of chilled beer or cocktails. It’s time to bring out all those summery dresses and denim shorts. I’ve been experimenting with my style and wardrobe. Not fast enough to my liking however somethings take time. You might still notice a bit of a variation form last year. Here are a few pieces I am enjoying this summer so far –
Linen shirts
Let’s start with Linen. It’s one of the best fabric to wear during summer months. So you will hear this mentioned a lot in this post. No matter how hot it gets, it never makes you uncomfortable. It’s breezy and yet thick enough to protect you if it’s windy. I can vouch for even the hot climate of north India, this is one fabric that can manage to keep you cool. Here are a couple of shirts that I am enjoying.
These are both 100% linen shirts from Mango and I got these a size bigger than usual so make these even more roomy and slouchy. Since I am a petite, I like to style these with shorts so it doesn’t look too overwhelming. But I’m a sucker for comfy clothes so I can even wear these with loose pair of trousers. 🙂
Shorts
Now of course Summer months are perfect to get out your shorts and not have to worry about what boots and leggings will go with them. I am wearing a variety of these in neutral colours and in suede and linen material. I’ve had these shorts in my wardrobe for a couple of years now, however these are pretty basic styles (my preference) and are available in all the possible stores and brands. The red ones bring a joy to a simple t-shirt outfit and gardening any day 😉
Linen chinos
Told you, you will see linen mentioned a lot. So yes, I have been enjoying wearing linen pair of trousers a lot. What’s not to like? Roomy, comfy, you don’t have to worry about wrinkles. Like men, wrinkles add character to your linen outfits. These particular ones look like they have a zipper, but are only elasticated. Perfect in my opinion!
White chinos
No summer evening beach walk is without a few white trousers on the shore. A pair of white trousers, actually a white anything automatically puts my mind in a relaxed mood. Plus it looks classy! What more could you want? I have this pair from gap for a few years now. A white or off white jeans can also be a good substitute. Paired with a camisole and a shirt it can easily transform from day to night outfit if you wanted to put a bit of oomph.
Dresses
Finally summer dresses! Summer is about flowy flowery dresses. Polka dots and light airy fabrics. I’m still on the lookout for a perfect flowery summer dress for me. In the meantime I am loving this blue short one for really hot days. If it gets a bit windy I can always throw a denim jacket on top.
This red one is my favourite though. Since red is such a strong colour, I contemplated to keep it or not and finally as you see I gave in. The fabric, you guess it, linen makes it very comfortable. Plus I like the tortilla shell buttons make it look elegant.
One version I could be content with is this wrap dress from & Other Stories. Quite a light weight material and tiny flower print brings it very close to what I’m looking at.
Accessories
I am most comfortable in minimal pieces of accessories whether it’s jewellery or other accessories. So I go with a minimal gold chain and a couple of rings for jewellery. I am grateful for the straw hat though to keep the Sun out of my face. 🙂
Hope you enjoyed my speel about the summery pieces. What are your favourites for these hot and bright sunny days? Share with me in the comments below.
Until next week. Ciao!
