This is the season of festivities. After pandemic and lockdown season I’m sure everyone is tired of being at home for too long, this year deserves a comeback with a bang! Even though I usually prefer just my own company, this time I’m longing for some twinkle, sparkle and some face to face social time. Of course, one of the things I’m excited about is festive wear. If you follow me you would know, I like to keep things simple. That’s not an exception when it comes to festive wear.
Looking at the shops flooded with Christmas and new year theme, there are no lack of options. On the contrary it might seem overwhelming what to choose and how to choose. Well that’s why I’m sharing my list of items that will not only serve as a wonderful festive wear now, but all year round.
Jump Suit
This is one of the best option you can go for. Get a nice jumpsuit and you have an outfit put together already. Starting with the minimal yet classy style I like this
Black one in Mango – Paired with the right jewellery and accessories this can be a knockout outfit. The belt gives a nice separation and the long sleeves make it comfortable to wear, even if you were to be out in the cold weather.
If you are looking at a little more festive element, this velvet one can be a style statement. I love the fall and texture of the fabric. On top of that makes it extra cozy to wear.
If you do want to add more sparkle to your outfit, I love this Sequin Halter-neck Jumpsuit from &other stories. Pair it with diamond studs and you are already the life of the party.
LBD
You can never go wrong with a little black dress. It’s always right for the occasion. I am looking at quite a few options that will do the job really well. This dress with ruffles and this one with feather detail is easy to style, flirty and will look put together without having to worry about a necklace. A nice clutch and knee high boots and I am ready to trot the streets or the ramp. 😉
This draped one with ruffles is in the same category but with one shoulder. The ruffles add character to the dress and I would love to wear it anywhere for the new year party to clubbing or to a music concert.
If you are looking for something with sleeves, this one with sheer fabric is perfect. It will keep you comfortable and yet a little flirty.
Add a bit sparkle to you outfit with this dress with crystal straps. I would personally not change anything from the way it’s styled on the model. A slicked back hairstyle and the look says I’m ready to party.
I love the styles from &other stories whether it’s this beads embellished dress or the off shoulder ruffle dress.
This crushed velvet dress with one shoulder is right up my alley though. Since this is a mini dress, I like that it has one sleeve and I can pair this with either gold, silver or diamond jewellery. I can make it a festive wear or just a casual wear on a girls night out.
Silk or Satin slip dress
If you are looking at a longer length dress, then satin or better still, a silk dress would be my first choice. I’m a fan of what I see at Lily silk for silk slip dresses. At a higher price but no compromise on quality. I love this one cowl neck dress, especially in claret red and Azure blue. Although knee length for my petite frame it would be more of a midi length. The Aster dress can also be a great timeless piece.
For a lower price range I love the options I see in Mango both in back and red.
This beaded one from Zara is also a good option. Here’s a Satin asymmetric dress reminds me of the yellow dress from “How to lose a guy in ten days”. We don’t doubt the style statement Kate Hudson made in that one. 🙂
Wrap dress
If you don’t feel comfortable in a slip dress and would like a little more coverage. I’d go with a wrap dress. There are variations available with different sleeve options. I personally like a long sleeve wrap dress. You can be comfortable yet the wrap style gives it that little oomph you are looking for in a festive wear. I recently got this Satin wrap dress from Mango. The emerald green colour is festive yet not in your face. Accessorised with black bag and gold jewellery this is perfect festive outfit for me when I want to keep it on a minimal side. I see ample option for wrap dresses in all the popular high street brands. Zara has similar looking blazer dress in black and this one in green. If you are looking for something in silk then, the Linaria wrap dress from Lily silk is another timeless piece.
Knit dresses
Now, if I want to be festive outdoors and want something that’s cozy and yet, stylish, I would go with a knit dress. At this time of the year you can have a pick of your choice from price range, quality to choices in colours. I’m yet to get one for myself and when I’m looking at the options, I would like something that is wool and fits really well and easy to dress up or down. Looking at Mango I like this off the shoulder knit dress from &Other stories. This one with cut out details adds a little something to the dress and easy to carry as a festive wear.
This cashmere knit dress from Everlane will be a great piece styled with a wide belt and a pair of off-white or black knee high boots.
I love this Uriel Dress from Sezane. I love the color and fun this embroidery adds to the dress. I’ll just automatically be happy wearing the dress any day of the year.
I’ll be happy to be an elf if I get to wear the Angelita dress in emerald green. The cut-out collar detail adds just enough to make the dress go from plain to stylish in my book.
A festive jumper
If you are like me and feel festive around this time of the year no matter what, you’d probably want to ward off any non-festive elements till the beginning of the new year. I would like to throw on a festive jumper just as a sign of warning to others. What jumpers I have my eyes on?
I am all for the traditional jumpers with reindeers, snowflakes and Christmas trees on. What I am more keen on are less traditional with a touch of festive element. These will make you feel festive not only on Christmas but all year round.
Well the first one is this Pearl fringed cropped Jumper from &Other stories. Pair it with black trousers, Jeans or a leather skirt, you’ll not be disappointed. I like that these are tiny pearls and go all the way to the back. With a high back, you have everything you need to make a simple jumper extra special.
This red jumper with rhinestones is already on sale and selling fast. For me this is simple, comfortable and yet festive. The other place I’d go for festive jumpers is Sezane. I just love their knitwear collection. The Bettany cardigan will keep you warm and the collar and button details will make you feel delicate and special. The Diego Jumper will look good in either Ecru or red. The Domi Jumper in Raspberry has gathered ruffles that gives it a feminine touch which will pair wonderfully well with trousers, skirts and jeans. With Sezane the list can go on and on.
Something leather
If I want to make a festive or even a simple jumper a bit more glamorous then I team it with a pair of leather trousers, leather leggings or a leather skirt. 🙂 The little bit of shine of leather brings a little more appeal to the outfit. you can pair these with boots or strappy sandals and you are ready for the party. If you’ve seen my post about autumn wishlist, I’ve had my eyes on the Straight leg leather trousers from &other stories. However I wanted to see how they’ll look on me and how I’ll carry them, so for now I’ve got these straight leg trousers with leather effect from Mango. Arket has a similar one in cropped stretch style. There’s a good variety available in both Zara and H&M.
Sparkle all the way
Now the last category, if you are looking for some real sparkle. There are sequin and rhinestone dresses I see in all the brands I mentioned above. I am sharing a few that stood out for me. The first one is this Silver Sequin dress from Mango. The long sleeves make it a little held back that I like. If you are looking to take it to the next level, go with this short sequin dress with a sort of cowl neck.
I like this wrap dress from &Other stories that adds all the sparkle you need while the wrap style makes it a little more comfortable. If you are looking for something longer, go with this metallic one. This Metallic dress from All Saints is a great price point and can be a nice timeless piece in your wardrobe. Like I said, there are times when I like to go all out and if the occasion warrants, and I am going all out, I will pick either of these two from Sezane. The Bettanie dress with multi color sequins. I love the way it’s worn with a belt. The next one is the Syana dress with pink sequins. The color and sequins do everything you need to make it festive. Keep accessories relatively simple and you have yourself an enviable outfit.
With this I wrap up my list for festive wear and wish you all a Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Hope you begin with the festivities soon if not already and the continue these all through the year.
Until next week, Ciao!
